What Do I Need to Know Before Calling My Insurance Agent?

Your home provides a comfortable shelter for you and your family. In this case, one of the most practical things you can do to restore your home is to call your insurance company. But before you do that, there are a few important things you need to know first.

Before you pick up the phone and dial your insurance agent, make sure to contact a certified storm restoration contractor first. They will help you do a full property damage inspection, photograph and document the extent of damage. And then, the inspector will provide you with a comprehensive report regarding the total storm damage sustained by your home. They will also inform you of the estimated cost to repair or restore your property to its good condition.

Some of the things that the contractor should carefully inspect are the roof, windows, doors, siding, gutters and vents. If electrical wires or tree branches fell on your roof, it would also be recorded.

Before You File a Claim

The repair contractor will be responsible for repairing or replacing the damaged components on your exterior, so make sure that they offer high quality materials and superior workmanship.
